VH1 Cancels Ev and Ocho Series Due To Domestic Abuse Allegations

Posted by: cnikky

Earlier this month, CNikky reported the premiere date for the EV and OCHO show about Basketball Wives Star Evelyn Lozada and NFL Star Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson and their wedding.  But, after a horrible weekend incident, the show has been cancelled and Chad has been dropped from the Miami Dolphins. Oh my…

In a statement from VH1 yesterday, the reality series “Ev & Ocho” has officially been cancelled.  The statement reads:

“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.”

Chad Johnson has not been convicted of domestic abuse as of yet, so there is a possiblity the network may change their mind, but it’s un-likely.

Here is a re-cap of what happened this weekend, that led to Chad being arrested for domestic assault.

According to the police report, the two were driving home from shopping when Evelyn confronted Chad about a Walgreen’s receipt she found for a condom purchase.  Evelyn told police Chad leaned in and head butted her and she ran to a neighbors house for help, while he circled the block looking for her.  She also told police that he yelled, ‘I don’t give a f-ck! I don’t give a f-ck about my career!’ and she signed an affidavit saying that she wants to press charges.  Chad, on the other hand, claimed it was Evelyn that head butted him and she said ‘F-ck it’. Unfortunately for them both, Evelyn had a 3′ laceration on her forehead, and judging by his mudshot, he walked away from the incident unbruised.

Things continue to spiral downward on Sunday. Just after Chad was released on bond, he had a meeting with the new coach of the Miami Dolphins and was dropped by the team.  No NFL career and No Reality show.

Both Chad & Evelyn appeared on HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Miami Dolphins” docuseries recently, it’s a show about the pre-season trials and tribulations of NFL players.  And Chad, the newest Dolphin at the time the series was taped, had a lot to say, we’re assuming he was joking?

“You think the critics are bad,” Chad said during a confessional.  “When I’m not doing well, she’s actually the worst critic of them all. I didn’t have sex the entire season last year because of my play. But I scored a touchdown, she allowed me to score. But after that, went back on cobweb mode.”

The couple talked on the show about their first date at McDonald’s after meeting on Twitter. And how Chad was calling Evelyn everything he could except for the B word, just to piss her off. But then, “hate turned into love,” Evelyn said on the show. Chad’s epiphany?  “Whenever you pause Call of Duty for someone, that’s the f*cking one.”

And when the the players were given a few days off, Chad jokingly  said, “I promise you I’m getting arrested while we’re off.”

CNikky does not condone domestic violence, Chad Johnson is innocent until proven guilty.  A man that puts his hands on a woman is not a man.  Johnson has no previous records or allegations prior to this incident.  We hope that the alleged situation did not occur and there was a mis-understanding.  Our thoughts are with Evelyn Lozado.  We wish her a speedy recovery.  We hate that this happened.  Losing your show, your career and possibly your marriage in one weekend is a huge blow.  What do you think?  Should Chad have been released from the Dolphins before he was convicted?  Should VH1 have cancelled the show?  Let me know?

Here is an interesting debate about the release of Johnson from the Miami Dolphins and the character of Evelyn Lozado by ESPN analyst Skip Bayless and Steven A. Smith.  Very interesting.  Check it out:
