TLC Biopic Is Cast: KeKe Palmer (Chili), Lil Mama (Left Eye), Drew Sidora (T Boz)….

TLC Biopic

The VH1 Biopic for R&B supergroup TLC, has officially been cast.  Lil Mama will play Left Eye, Drew Sidora will play T Boz and KeKe Palmer will play Chili.  Interesting since Chili said they didn’t want any known stars to play their characters?  Many people are upset about the casting choices…but now we will have to wait and see how it turns out?

We reported recently that rapper Lil Mama will be taking on the role of Left Eye in the upcoming TLC Biopic that will air on VH1.  And that decision was met with controversy and petitions to stop the “Lipgloss” rapper from officially nabbing the role.  But, yesterdays announcement that KeKe Palmer didn’t go without controversy either.  Many fans and critics spoke out on the Internet and twitter, saying that KeKe was a poor choice to play Chili because she looks nothing like her.

According to Vibe:

Yesterday, it was just announced that KeKe Palmer, former Nickelodeon star in “True Jackson VP” and Lifetime’s “The Carlina White Story,” will be joining the cast in the role of Chilli.  She joins both Lil Mama, who will play Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Drew Sidora (The Game), who has been cast as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, in the made-for-TV film.

Palmer has been a fan of TLC since she can remember. The 19-year-old Chicago native got her love of singing from her mother, who was a background session singer and often took Keke and her older sister L’Oreal to the studio with her to record. “I knew at an early age that I wanted to be a singer like my mom,” says Palmer.

She was only six when TLC released their No. 1 album FanMail.

“I would sing ‘No Scrubs’ over and over again to the point my parents would have to tell me to stop, but I never did, I had my little hairbrush as my mic and nobody could tell me I wasn’t the fourth member of TLC.”

Palmer is now trading the hairbrush for a real mic with her role as Chilli. “I am a true fan,” she says. ”I love these ladies and I always want to be proud of my work in any role that I do.”

Palmer’s previous acting credits include the 2012 musical comedy Joyful Noise alongside Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton. She cut her teeth in acting on the Nickelodeon show True Jackson, VP, and has appeared in other flicks and television shows. She plans on dropping her second studio LP sometime this year, a followup to her 2012 self-titled mixtape.

Seemingly in response to Twitter comments about her not looking anything like Chilli, Keke Palmer took to the social media site this afternoon is defense of her casting, stating:

People kill me, I don’t remember Angela Bassett looking ANYTHING like Tina Turner. And she RIPPED that role;

People need to realize that movies aren’t casted by people looking like who they’re playing. They’re casted by who can do the role.

I don’t know about you, but I would much rather see a movie that is well acted, then a movie with a bunch of look a like’s.

Cause Ben Affleck isn’t even Hispanic, but the man he played in Argo IS.

I shouldn’t play the part because my baby hair isn’t the perfect texture?. Goodnight Twitter, goodnight.

Okay, I just got snappy lol now I really need to get off this negativity warp. I spoke my mind! God is good!

O.K. KeKe!! The upcoming VH1 TLC biopic to be filmed in Atlanta, GA next month.   Good luck ladies.
