While the 2013 Inaguration was going on in Washington D.C. the stars were out in Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival. Folks like Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Nate Parker and Casey Aflek posed for the camera while promoting their latest film projects.
Vibe Online caught up with Alicia and asked her about her new film “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete”:
Alicia Keys arrived at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival not as a singer, but as an executive producer.
“I love the fact that I’m here, not necessarily to sing a song, but to present an incredible film,” says Keys of the indie flick, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete.
Directed by George Tillman Jr. (Notorious, Men of Honor), The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete follows 14-year-old Mister, played by breakout star Skylan Brooks, who dreams big despite his big people problems. Jennifer Hudson takes on her most tasking role yet, as Mister’s mother and heroin addict who relies on prostitution to make ends meet, but not with good consequences
“She’s a very challenging character for me to portray, and its a huge stretch,” says Hudson of her role. “It’s something completely different from me that’s never really been seen before. It’s quite edgy.”
In other Sundance news….Nate Parker, Casey Afleck, Michael C. Hall, Rooney Mara, Julianne Moore and many others, hit the carpet for the premiere of their new films:
