TV One’s hit show, R&B Divas is under construction. Even though, season one was a big hit for the network, they are making cast changes. According to surveys, Nicci Gilbert’s likability wasn’t very high among viewers so she was allegedley asked to leave (although she is an Executive Producer of the show), sources are now reporting that Faith Evans (the other Executive Producer) is also walking away from the show. It’s not for certain whether Faith is going away willingly…but she’s not expected to be back.
So who will be filling the void? According to The YBF: R&B veterans Sunshine Anderson (“Heard It All Before”) and Angie Stone (“Brother”) are expected to come on-board. And since “R&B Divas” isn’t necessarily built on scandals and arguents, it may be a good way to put the ladies music back on the map since we haven’t heard much from either of them in a while. Mathew Knowles is Sunshine’s manager and D’Angelo is the father of Angie Stone’s child, so this should be interesting?
As for now, Syleena Johnson, KeKe Wyatt and Monifah are expected to be back (though TV One has not confirmed). Let’s hope that they keep the show as drama free as possible. I will miss Nicci and Faith though. What do you think?
Also, According to Deadline.com, Atlanta, GA is becoming the mecca of Black reality TV and a new show has just been picked up be Bravo. “Taking Atlanta” (which will be executive produced by reality tv guru Mona Scott-Young) will follow a group of ambitious Atlanta locals making their mark in fashion, music, hospitality and real estate while making the round on the social scene. Mona is also the E.P. for the Love and Hip Hop Series, so this show should be a mess!
