One of my favorite dance shows on television, America’s Best Dance Crew is no more. The show that emphasized working as a team instead of being an individual has brought us amazing teams like Jabowakeez, Super Crew, Quest Crew, Fanny Pak, 8 Flahvaz and Beat Freaks.
Produced by American Idol‘s Randy Jackson, the series featured dance crews competing for a $100,000 grand prize. During its 2008-12 run, the Warner Horizon series saw its ratings dwindle among MTV’s core 12-34 demographic as the broadcast networks added efforts including America’s Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance.
“We are grateful to Randy Jackson and Warner Horizon for having brought our audience seven amazing seasons of dance with ABDC, and look forward to more successful and dynamic entertaining collaborations in the future,” an MTV spokesperson said in a statement.
The series continues to be an international performer, airing in Canada, France and in the Philippines.
Although I agree that the show hasn’t been what it used to be the past few seasons, I still tuned in to see the kids dance. Fabulous host, Mario Lopez is now the host of the X-Factor, so he’s moved on. I’m sure Lil Mama, JC Chasez and D Trix will land on their feet. We will miss you ABDC!
