There are certain sports heroes that have carved out a place in history and Jackie Robinson is one of them. But un-like many others, his story is not just about scored points or brokenrecords. Jackie actually changed history and paved the way for the present. He is a hero and it’s time his story is told.
Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have released the first trailer for the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 that opens April 12, 2013. Chadwick Boseman plays the famed second baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers who broke pro baseball’s color barrier. Harrison Ford plays team general manager Branch Rickey.
When you hear the name Jackie Robinson, what comes to mind? Probably baseball and the number 42. As a matter of fact, he was the very first African American who became a Major League Baseball player in the year 1947 – well ahead of the strides made by the civil rights movement. Yet all was not roses for Mr. Robinson, and as a matter of fact, being a pioneer of the civil rights movement held many moments that would make a lesser person want to act out in utter frustration.
All I have to say is, it’s about time this movie was made. Please Warner Bros. , don’t mess this up.
