Lena Dunham is the star and creator of HBO’s hit show GIRLS (love this show). Lena decided to excercise her right to support President Obama and make a campaign ad encouraging folks to vote for him. Oh, but this ad is causing lots of controversy. She used her sexual humor (as only she could) and asked new voters to Vote for Obama as she did during “her first time” (voting).
According to the Dailymail:
President Obama’s campaign is out with an eyebrow-raising new ad targeting young voters in which Lena Dunham, the creator of the HBO hit series ‘Girls,’ compares her first voting experience to losing her virginity.
‘Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody,’ Dunham, 26, says in the ad. ‘You want to do it with a great guy.’
Dunham goes on to explain that ‘your first time’ should be with ‘someone who really cares about and understands women; A guy who cares whether you get health insurance and specifically whether you get birth control.’
Watch the ad below:
The interesting thing is…some people are really mad about it. It had a few hundred more DISLIKES on Youtube than LIKES. The Conservative blogs are going crazy, saying that the ad is innapropriate, desperate, negative, explotative and corrupting the young generation. Lena Dunham in some cirlcles is recognized as one of the new voices for young people. So, Conservatives are upset that she is sending the wrong message. Or, they are mad that she’s voting for Obama. Either way, this humorous and clever ad is now the center of controversy.
What do you think??
