Shaquille O’Neal and Stephen Jackson may have paved the way for NBA players to release rap albums. No one can knock them for having lyrical aspirations, but most NBA players…should just stick to entertaining us with their hoop skills. Fortunately for us, this is not one of those times! A few of our favorite NBA stars have been hitting the recording studio to record an album entitled Full Court Press: Volume 1. Believe it or not, some of them are pretty good!
Slam Online has a little more information on an upcoming album featuring 14 NBA stars such as Juwan Howard, Baron Davis, Trevor Ariza, Lamar Odom, Carlos Boozer, Glen Davis, Shawn Marion, Josh Smith and others. The ballers will collaborate with hip-hop veterans like “Rick Ross, Trina, Snoop Dogg, Birdman, The Game, Twista, T-Pain and many more.
All proceeds from the album, which has a tentative release date of All-Star Weekend in February 2013, will benefit children in the community looking to receive education in the music business.
I actually think this is a cute idea, especially since it’s for charity. I know the NBA stars are having fun with this one.
