Season 8 of Showtimes Weeds will begin airing on July 1st….and yes, it will be the final season. Showtime has confirmed that the series will end it’s run soon after it reaches it’s 100th episode, which is rare for a cable network show. “Weeds has been a seminal series for Showtime and was key in establishing the network as a home for great original programming,” said Showtime’s entertainment president David Nevins. “It was very important to us that we bring the story of Nancy Botwin and her family to a satisfying conclusion for the devoted fans who have spent years following these characters.”
It is time to say good-bye to Nancy Botwin and her clan. Personally, the show took a weird turn after Season 3, when they burned down Agrestic and Conrad left the show. But, we hung in there with Nancy through her pregnancy, life on the run, new husband, murder, several weird jobs and random homes, custody battles, jail, terrible mothering, several lovers and constant rejection of the one person who loves her un-conditionally, Andy. Farewell, Weeds. It was nice knowing ya!
