Tracey Edmonds is the new face of Extra alongside co-host Mario Lopez! The long running entertainment show has an addition of elegance, sophistication and an abundance of industry knowledge. The beauty became known as the ex-wife of music mogul Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, but she has carved out her own lane in entertainment by producing films, television series and made for tv movies for the past decade! Now, not only is she the girlfriend of NFL superstar Deion Sanders, but she is producing their own docu-series on OWN, Deion’s Family Playbook, and she is the new host of Extra 5 nights a week!
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Tracey for the second time and she invited me out to the set of Extra at Universal Studios Hollywood! In our 3 part interview, we discussed her new job, her docu-series with Deion and her latest film, ‘With This Ring!’ For Part 1 we focused on what it’s like to have a day in the life of Tracey Edmonds on Extra! And we found out that she wants her legacy to include opening doors for others and introducing more people of color to the Extra audience!
As a host are you ever faced with having to ask really un-comfortable questions to your guest?
“All the time, you get producer questions that are put into the teleprompter, that you really don’t feel like asking. And you know that whoever you’re interviewing is not really gonna want to answer that, and I kinda do, probably what you do. I say, ‘I have to ask this question, and then I go ahead and ask the question. Just so that they know, it’s not coming from me. The stupid question is not coming from me!”
Some of her favorite interviews so far have been Idris Elba and Larenz Tate. But, her dream guest include Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney.
What do you want your legacy to be at Extra?
“One of the things that I want to do, is bring more diversity to the show and trying some new things. I’d love to just kind of have creative input. You know, I come from a producing background, so I’d love to just be able to expand and explore different things that the show hasn’t explored before. And, bring more color to the show! And also to at least be able to use my position here as an opportunity to open doors for other people as well.”
You can check out our friend Tracey Edmonds Monday thru Friday on Extra!
