Tasha Mack taught us all how to be ‘Bout That Life,’ and Blue taught us how to fall in love with the newbie after the loss of two of our favorite characters. Yes, I’m talking about Wendy Raquel Robinson and Jay Ellis from BET’s The Game. The final season has arrived and we have to say goodbye to characters we’ve come to love for nearly 10 years. I’ve had the immense pleasure of interviewing the cast more than anyone else on the web over the years and it really feels like the end of an era. I was recently re-united with my ‘Game’ family and after a fabulous brunch, we sat down for a chat about the final season and some of our favorite moments. First up was my buddy Jay Ellis and the fabulous Wendy Raquel Robinson.
Here are a few highlights from the interview:
How do you feel about the show coming to an end?
“I guess everyone is saying bitter sweet, but it’s really sweetly bitter. If you think about it, it’s so many memories. #BoutThatLife # This #That I t will be something that I always treasure and something that I will never forget. It’s been a journey.”
“The first time I walked in and the first time the entire cast was in the room together, we were in the 40th floor. Do you remember that (Wendy)? We were in Atlanta at the mid-town W. We were on the 40th floor and the conference room had like a 360 view. I was the first one there because I was like, I don’t want to be late! I don’t want to get fired on my first day! But, one by one, they each kind of came in, it was a very normal thing. They got off the elevator, they came down the stairs, but it was all slow mo for me..it was like they cascaded down the stairs! Everyone was so regal! And I was like, these are the people that I actually get to work with, like this doesn’t feel real.”
“What was the first thing I said to you darling?”
“You better get me 3 more seasons!”
“I was like, OK new booty, we need 4 more seasons! You fine, but let’s translate that to dollars!”
Hosea and Lauren were together in our recent interview, so clearly they end up together and Blue ends up alone..again! Does that mean Blue is a looser?
“Blue is an international playboy. He don’t need to be booed up! Who do you really think won in that situation? Blue or Kiera and Malik? You put Kiera and Malik together, that’s a disaster! They gonna burn the house down. They’re Left Eye and Andre Risen waiting to happen!”
Hilarious! I will miss the show and the cast tremendously. The season starts with Blue and Malik in an elevator brawl, Chardonnay seeking revenge on Jason and Kelly Pitts. Tasha turns her back on Kelly and Blue makes a drastic decision in terms of his engagement….and it transcends onto the football field! Jason looses something very important to him, but gains something he’s been waiting for, only to see one of his dreams crash and burn. And Chardonnay realizes that sometimes when you seek revenge…the joke is on you. Enjoy!
