Jeanette Jenkins is the Hollywood Personal Trainer that’s whipped bodies like Kelly Rowland, Pink and Alicia Keys into incredible shape! She is currently working on her own fitness show with her clients Debra Lee (BET’s CEO) and Mara Brock Akil (creator of Being Mary Jane, The Game). I caught up with her at Debra Lee’s BET Awards pre-party and she gave us some important fitness advice that everyone should adhere to!

What are a few fitness tips that everyone should know?
“One. Hydration. A lot of people don’t realize that you actually need water in your muscle cells to burn fat. So, definitely make sure you’re drinking half your body weight in ounces of water! So, if you’re 150 pounds, 75 ounces of water a day is about 4 or 5 small bottles of water.”
“Another nutrition tip I will give you is greens! If I could only tell people to eat one healthy food item, have green vegetables 3 times a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. They’re filled with nutrients that are alkaline. And alkalinity makes your immune system strong. It helps you fight off every illness and every disease.”
“The last I will say is do your best to get those workouts in. Schedule them like any other important meeting!”
What advice do you give to people that compare their body shape to celebrity’s and get down on themselves?
“It’s really important that you learn your body type so that you’re not having UN-realistic goals. ”
“Don’t allow yourself ever! Like EVER any negative talk! It doesn’t help you in anyway whatsoever. If you want to work on something by all means…but putting yourself down just makes it that much harder for you to climb yourself back up and achieve your goals. You want to work on something, you write it down and put it in the universe and you have to believe it and when you believe it then the universe will serve it to you.”
