My music mogul hero, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is on the journey to accomplish his biggest dream to date! Today, he launches his very own television network! Following in the steps of other African American owner, Oprah (OWN) and Magic Johnson (Aspire) , Diddy has created his own music network that will incorporate ground breaking technology. Fans have been disappointed in music networks like MTV, BET and VH1, that changed their formats from being primarily music based, to being known for their reality shows and scripted programs and almost eliminating music videos, interviews and countdowns from their line-up completely! REVOLT, is ready to revolutionize the way fans receive music by creating a channel that airs music 24 hours a day. Think of it as the CNN or ESPN of music. They will also be one of the only networks to constantly incorporate social media platforms (twitter, instagram etc) during their live shows to encourage fan interaction with their favorite stars and VJ’s.
Revolt will not only focus on popular music, but it will bring attention to unknown artist and different genre’s of music like punk, electronica, alternative, hip hop, r&b and anything else that fans are listening to. They will delve into the happenings of music festivals all over the country and bring you up close and personal with your favorite artist.
“I think part of what’s going to be attractive about Revolt is, it’s almost like MTV was our first wife and she changed so much that she broke our heart and went for somebody with more money,” Stephen Pitalo, a music video historian, said.
“There’s no destination channel any more for music,” Diddy said. “Revolt will become for music what ESPN is for sports and CNN is for news.”
Rap will be a prominent genre on the new network, however, it will not be the only one.
“We’ll also give a platform for electronica and alternative,” Diddy said. “If it’s happening in music, it will happen on Revolt.”
Revolt TV will be available to Time Warner Cable and Comcast customers in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles only, but hope to expand soon.
