Congratulations to our favorite new show on television, ‘Being Mary Jane’! Obviously, we aren’t the only ones who are obsessed with BET’s hit drama. Over 5 million people tuned in to see the first episode of this series!! That is the highest ratings for any dramatic television show this year…period! Yes, that’s for the entire 2013-2014 season!! Mara Brok Akil created an incredible show. Gabrielle Union brought it to life and Debra Lee and the folks at BET are laughing all the way to the bank!! So happy for them!
Zoe Saldana is following in the footsteps of Kerry Washington and Gabrielle Union by also starring in her own television series! The newly married beauty landed the lead role in the re-make of ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ on NBC. The show will be a 4 part mini series and it promises to be intense and at times, down right scary!
The mini centers on Rosemary (Saldana), a young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child. The role was played by Mia Farrow in Roman Polanski’s 1968 feature adaptation.
“Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses, and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin’s infamous novel,” said NBC’s head of long form Quinn Taylor. “With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this re-imagined event miniseries is off to a great start.”
Congrats all around! 2014 is starting out to be a year of progress and success!
