Gravity, Wolf of Wall Street, 12 Years A Slave Oscar Nominations 2014

On Thursday morning, the 2014 Oscar Nominations were announced by the very handsome actor, Chris Hemsworth (Thor).  While there were some surprises, for the most part the nominees were as expected.  12 Years A Slave walked away with 9 nominations including best actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Best Picture.  Both Gravity and American Hustle had 10 nominations including Best Picture and Best Actor, Christian Bale and Best Actress Sandra Bullock.  But, clearly missing from the Best Picture and Best Actor categories was Forest Whitaker and ‘The Butler!’  The outstanding film by Lee Daniels did not garner ANY Academy Award Nominations!  There was some serious shade thrown there?  The remarkable film was undeniably one of the best of the year.  Sad, but you all should know by now that Hollywood is a land of politics!  Hopefully, the Academy will show some more love to 12 Years A Slave than the other award shows this season.  Suprisinlgy enough, Hans Zimmer was not nominated for the score of that film, but hopefully the dynamic acting of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender and Lupita N’Yongo will be awarded and 12 Years also deserves best film.  For directing…that’s a tough one, since Martin Scorsesee did such a great job with ‘Wolf of Wall Street?’  Congratulations to all of the nominees.  Scroll down for a full list.  The Academy Awards airs on March 2nd.
